General School Procedures

School hours are 8:55 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.; doors open for students at 8:35 a.m.

Visitor Policy/Entering the Building

All visitors must check into the office and receive a visitor sticker before going to other parts of the building. This includes walking students into the building on arrival. Parents are encouraged to walk students to class in the first week of school and then students can walk independently to their classrooms for the remainder of the year. You must ring the doorbell and show your ID to enter the building even if we know who you are. This is district policy and for the safety of the students.

Arrival and Dismissal

Student safety is the #1 priority. Respect the direction of staff members on duty. All staff support a safe and orderly dismissal and are unavailable to have unscheduled conferences during dismissal time. School begins at 8:55 a.m. Doors are unlocked at 8:35 a.m. as per district safety and security protocols. Please make sure your child knows how they are getting home from school each day. Call the office by 3:00 p.m. if a change is necessary.

Arrival

Drop off: Pull all the way forward to the crosswalk. Please avoid blocking the crosswalk. Cars must unload (have children ready) from the crosswalk to the curve. The safest way to unload is via the drop-off lane. If you must get out of your vehicle, please park in a designated parking stall and walk your child to the crosswalk. Children should exit the vehicle on the passenger side only.

Dismissal

  • All cars need to have a family car tag displayed at dismissal. Students will remain in their classroom until their number is entered and displayed on the screen.
  • Walkers and bike riders will be dismissed through the front doors.
  • Please do not park in handicapped parking unless you are handicapped.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 8:35-8:55 a.m. in the multi-purpose room. Students are offered milk, juice, cereal bar or muffin, a protein (string cheese or yogurt) and a fruit product (apple, applesauce, raisins). There is no cost for breakfast. A healthy breakfast each day improves classroom performance!

Early Childhood

  • Morning Recess: 9:30-9:45 a.m.
  • Afternoon Recess: 1:30-1:45 p.m.

Kindergarten

  • Lunch: 11:00-11:25 a.m.
  • Morning Recess: 10:15-10:30 a.m.
  • Specials: 12:55-1:55 p.m.
  • Afternoon Recess: 1:45-2 p.m.

First Grade

  • Lunch: 11:15-11:40 a.m.
  • Morning Recess: 10:30-10:45 a.m.
  • Specials: 10:00-11:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon Recess: 2:00-2:15 p.m.

Second Grade

  • Lunch: 11:30-11:55 a.m.
  • Morning Recess: 10:20-10:35 p.m.
  • Specials: 12:55-1:55 p.m.
  • Afternoon Recess: 2:15-2:30 p.m.

Third Grade

  • Lunch: 11:45 a.m.-12:10 p.m.
  • Morning Recess: 11-11:15 a.m.
  • Specials: 10:00-11:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon Recess: 1:15-1:30 p.m.

Fourth Grade

  • Lunch: 12:00-12:25 p.m.
  • Morning Recess: 9:50-10:05 a.m.
  • Specials: 9:00-10:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon Recess: 3-3:15 p.m.

Fifth Grade

  • Lunch: 12:30-12:55 p.m.
  • Morning Recess: 9:25-9:40 a.m.
  • Specials: 9:00-10:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon Recess: 2:30-2:45 p.m.
  • Band and strings: 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. (Monday, Wednesday, every other Friday)
